I love challenges

I belong to an on line art community. The thing I love about the site is that there are different groups for the different mediums.  I am one of those artists that loves to try all kinds of different things and the groups offer weekly or monthly challenges for artists, of all experience, to try.  So whether you are new to art or "old" all are welcome to join in the fun.  Many times they offer an extra challenge, to change things up a bit.  

One of my favorite challenges was to paint in the style of Van Gogh.  Some of my fellow artists chose one of his paintings to copy.  I fell in love with his painting of shoes.

 The challenge for me was to make it my own, soooooo, since my husband likes western attire.....

of course, though I tried to follow his style, the real me creeps in.  My emphasis tends to be texture. I love rough line. So in it comes... perhaps that is why I like his painting as well.

Currently I am finishing up a painting of oranges. The kids in the classroom love watching the progress of my work. Those poor oranges went from yellow to red and then blue!  I will be posting it in a few days. I only wish I had taken photos of the whole process, so I could put them on the blog.
